And I'm in the middle of the very awkward process of changing my last name from Hengst to Smith. The transition has not gone smoothly, mostly due to a complete lack of motivation to make my way to the New York City DMV.

As a Hengst I earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Massachusetts College of Art and began my career at The Barbarian Group in early 2004. I spent over six years at the 2-time Interactive Agency of the Year.

As a Smith I'm looking forward to new opportunities as I start my consulting firm Cocoa & Pepper. A step away from the ad game, I'll be focusing more on product design and innovation as I hone my UX, IxD, IA, visual design and strategy chops. Hopefully I'll tack a few more acronyms onto that list. We do love our silly acronyms.
